2+ years in review!

24/10/2023 is NOT the anniversary, but because I have submitted accounts to the HMRC, I am spending little time looking at the past, the present and the future.

I am talk about the bad things upfront:

No revenue yet!

Over the past 2+ years £9,201 in business expenses (as of June 30 2023) - some hardware, insurance expenses etc...

Now let's talk what happened in the past 2+ years!

Free:

SimplePass - A small, free, privacy focused PWA password manager, but discontinued in October 2023.

PodDB - Free search engine and podcast directory of podcasts. I didn't have much big plans for the product anyway. The product development has been stopped.

OpenSource:

LightKeysTransfer - Open source tool for some sensitive data management and transferring.

ALight.NLog.LayoutRenderer.Hash - Open source NLog Layout renderer, fast non-cryptographic hash and cryptographic hash.

Robotstxt - Clone of a open source repo and some code enhancements, performance enhancements.

Cyber-Security internal:

NIST based cyber security framework implementation.

VPNWeb - Internal product, under active development for VPN management, automatic breach detection and network termination within 1 minute. Even VPN certs, VPN passwords are changed and are one-time use. In other words, after I connect, if I give away the .ovpn file they can't connect, because a random 80 character alpha-numeric password gets generated and associated. Even if I give away the password, they can't connect because the cert / password combination are for one-time use. Downside: If I disconnect, I can't reconnect, I need to generate another set of .ovpn file and password. And there is much more security based on time-outs, automatic terminations, automatically, randomly resetting passwords etc...

With some free products, some open source contribution and almost enterprise-grade security in-place (in other words, I have done everything possible for securely accessing cloud-based workloads from normal internet, having dedicated IP's or direct connections like enterprise's would have been much more secure)

WebVeta:

In February of 2023, I came up with a product idea known as WebVeta. Then I went to Gurgaon for TieCon business networking event. There I met a Microsoft booth. Microsoft for Startup Founders. I took a photo, posted on my LinkedIn, later I sent a prototype and got approved into Microsoft for Startup Founders. Thank you and gratitude Microsoft.

Some people say luck is the combination of decision, contacts, timing, hard work, mindset. I don't know why I wanted to attend the business networking event and that too travelling all the way from Visakhapatnam to Gurgaon. But seems like the decision was one of the nice decisions.

What's next?

Planning to launch production release on March 12th. Adding some value-added features meanwhile. The production release on March 12th would NOT be an MVP, there would be some nice features, and of course more features would be added later.

I have several planned features, and the features list grows almost everyday i.e I think about 1 - 2 value added features almost everyday. Some of those end-up in someday list, some in based-on-traction, some in near-future lists.

But for March 12th production release it's a hard decision of features, value-added features, some features are for the longer-term growth of the product and for the consumers, in other words, some features are for the longer-term benefit of the product such as related to marketing etc... rather than visible features of the product. Because marketing, traction, user-base are chicken and egg problems.

The future definitely looks bright! I am considering some motivational and inspirational writings once in a while!

My gratitude towards my parents, elder sister and her family, my spouse, her parents, siblings and their families, friends who believed in me and stood with me, friends who became neutral but didn't backstab and the once-upon-a-time friends who backstabbed me, because now, I am more wise in making decisions.

WebVeta update coming soon!

The next version of WebVeta coming soon in 4 - 5 days. This version has no changes in the front-end web portal nor the search results.

This update is a major backend update. The backend processing engine becomes scalable, eliminates some bottlenecks, enhanced performance, capable of handling priority indexing for future premium clients similarly capable of handling near-real-time updates, sitemaps, RSS feeds. A major update for the future of WebVeta but no visible updates.

The next few months are going to have plenty of updates.

Another small open source contribution

Most people know WebVeta is about providing search engine. One of the requirements for search engines is to follow robots.txt rules.

WebVeta development continues

In the past I have mentioned about some security concerns and said I would be increasing the CyberSecurity of my own startups: ALight Technology And Services Limited and ALight Technologies USA Inc.

The CyberSecurity part is NOT yet complete, but definitely at the level I want. Evaluating CyberSecurity, modern threats and improving CyberSecurity are things that need to be evaluated and implemented periodically. It's NOT a do and forget type of thing.

WebVeta development has commenced from yesterday. The current focus for the next few weeks is making the codebase scalable.

In the past when I showed a demo of the July 4th release, I have shown a glimpse of the next feature. The next feature internally known as domaingroups got an enhancement planned. The next feature has more sub-features.

Some sl*t and her p*mp for whatever reason either did identity theft or identity distortion. Because I have very rare and unique name? According to some propaganda the female claims to be Light and pimp Good - Tamil Nadu naming convention? Even by Tamil Nadu naming convention the sl*ts surname would be Kalyan. i.e girls from Tamil Nadu have their dad's name or husband's name as surname i.e if the sl*ts dad or husband has name of Kalyan and if a female has name of Kanti, her surname would be Kalyan. So, the sl*ts and p*mps are distractions in the identity theft done by rogue R&AW traitor terrorist - uttam / bojja srinivas / diwakar / mukesh golla.

And these b*atches have mind reading equipment, probably pr*stitution cases and these females might be using virtual identities, exchanging identities, claiming to be living elsewhere, claiming to be someone else's spouse etc... Where are the certificates? Such as education / identity / marriage certificates etc...

Thota Yesupadam, local police knows they are the culprits, yet encourages them - p*mps might have offered him bribes. Even India's diplomats are involved - India's rogue, traitor R&AW identity thief - they enacted Mafia for framing and formed clusters of black money for identity distortion, defamation - the strategy aka (also known as) cluster bombs.

Anyway sl*ts and p*mps wouldn't know the value of identity, career etc... They would use fake names, stolen identity documents, stolen OTP bank accounts etc... And obviously they are jealous.

Migrated Most of Workloads from AWS to Azure, decommissioning SimplePass

In early September, I have mentioned about migration servers from AWS to Azure - Internal maintenance, server migration. This effort has been completed. The following workloads have been migrated from AWS to Azure:

I think I should say the past 24 hours, I wore "system admin" hat. I am NOT boasting but in my one-man startup, I do everything. Sometimes "dba", "security architect", "technical architect", "product owner", "project manager", "developer" etc... My weakest point in the entire software development cycle - QA / testing, I do some normal sanity tests / unit tests.

Now, this task is complete, the next few days, I would be wearing - "security architect", "developer" hats. I am trying to implement an almost impenetrable VPN system. I would leak the details of the VPN system or show a demo in 2 weeks.

In other words, I am developing a system where VPN's server cert, client cert, client password are for one-use only, once connected and disconnected, the same .ovpn file or certs or password cannot be used for connecting.

And monitoring software watches cloud network security groups, if connected to VPN, the ports are allowed until disconnect. If disconnected, ports are automatically closed.

For example, I have been using AWS CodeBuild + Jenkins for some CI/CD. I don't want public access of Jenkins, although web traffic, Jenkins is not supposed to have public internet access, should be accessible only via VPN. Similalrly SSH / RDP etc...

Why am I so worried about cyber-security?

I have been targeted, harassed and hacked several times by a gang of R&AW/Mafia cyber-criminals for the over 6 years, 2 - 3 murder attempts, defamation. They even stalked, blackmailed, identity theft, identity distortion, invasion of privacy etc... In January of 2022, someone gained access to VPN for few minutes, and I got an alert and terminated the VPN server within 3 - 4 minutes, based on logs, no harm was done, but I did report to the ICO - Internet Commissioners Office.

Opensource NLog Hash LayoutRenderer

A new mini-project has been open-sourced. Sometimes in logs we write some info, but in some cases we might need to identify but don't need actual values for example: IP, SessionID, Cookie Values etc... This open sourced mini-project allows using "hash" and "securehash" as renderers.
