I’m sharing the next direction for ALightVPN: ALightVPN
Premium for individuals and professionals, and ALightVPN for business and small
teams.
Both are in development. This announcement introduces the
features I’m planning and the problems I want to solve. Availability, supported
platforms and final feature coverage will be announced as development happens.
For an individual, the goal is greater control over their
VPN environment and access to private resources. For a business, it is giving
the right people access to the right resources—and closing that access when it
is no longer needed.
Premium starts with stronger isolation.
I’m designing Premium around an isolated VPN runtime for
each active connection, with one client per instance and separate key material.
The aim is to keep each customer’s VPN environment separate, even when
customers share the same public internet address.
Sensitive VPN keys, profiles and runtime state are planned
to remain in RAM rather than being stored on server disks. That also changes
recovery: after a server reboot, affected connections will need fresh VPN
material instead of restoring old secrets from disk.
Post-quantum protection is another part of the plan. The
Premium design targets hybrid key establishment using ML-KEM-1024 alongside
classical cryptography.
For business, the focus expands to people, permissions
and offboarding.
The business roadmap builds on the same access-control
foundation, adding capabilities planned for small and medium-sized
organizations.
Premium pricing is planned at:
- $24.99
per month
- $150
per year, charged for the annual term
- $240
for two years, charged for the two-year term
All prices are in USD. Early-adopter discounts are planned;
eligibility and terms will be shared separately. Business pricing will be
announced separately too.
The initial Premium offering will use a shared
public egress IP. A dedicated IP is planned as a later paid Premium add-on
and is excluded from the base subscription prices. An isolated VPN runtime and
an exclusive public IP are separate features.
I’ll develop this in stages: establish the Premium
foundation, validate it through a limited pilot, then expand into business
administration and automation. I’m keeping some of the wider roadmap for future
announcements, and I’m not announcing a launch date yet.
